Background

Following 5 years of development in association with the Technical University of Delft in Holland, FITS Technology is delighted to introduce its state-of-the-art composite sandwich panel. FITS panels are based upon AIR (Polyetherimid), foam and AIR fibre reinforced thermoplastic facings.

In its unique manufacturing process, FITS Technology produces an an-isotropic foam core and the bonding to the fibre reinforced facings all in just one step. Because of this, FITS has a unique combination of high stiffness and strength, enhanced damage tolerance, very low flammability AND the panels are thermoformable.

Because of this thermoformability, part manufacturing technologies such as edge finishing, folding, welding of insets and so on; have become much simpler, more efficient and more versatile. This simplicity and versatility can revolutionise the part manufacturing process in the aerospace, ship building and rail industries and will bring these sectors benefits such as weight saving, lower manufacturing costs, enhanced design possibilities and excellent material characteristics.

FITS Technology was launched by Mr Martin de Groot B.Sc. who has been working on this concept for many years and who is pleased to be able to introduce these advanced panels to a wider market.
